License terms (EULA)

DRAFT — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. These terms are a plain-language draft and must be reviewed (incl. Czech consumer law and Polar’s merchant-of-record terms) before Nightlid is sold. Last updated: 4 October 2026.

1. Who you’re dealing with

Nightlid (“the software”) is developed and licensed by Jiří Beneš, sole trader, Czech Republic (IČO [to be added]), “we”. Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. (“Polar”) as merchant of record and reseller; Polar’s terms govern the purchase itself.

2. Trial

You may use the software free of charge for 7 days to evaluate it. After that, a license is required to keep using it.

3. Your license

4. What you may not do

Share, resell or publish license keys; circumvent the licensing; or redistribute the software, except as mandatory law allows (for example decompilation for interoperability).

5. What the software does to your Mac

The software installs a privileged helper that changes the system’s sleep setting while you use it, puts your Mac to sleep when a session ends, and, if you choose, adds hook entries to the configuration of supported AI agent tools. How this works and its limits are described on the security page. You are responsible for using it sensibly — for example, not running heavy workloads in a closed bag.

6. Refunds

14 days, no questions asked — see the refund policy. This does not limit your statutory rights.

7. No warranty

To the extent permitted by law, the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that it is error-free or that it will work with future macOS versions. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including statutory rights regarding defects of digital content.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost data or profits, or damage to hardware (including from heat or battery depletion), and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the license. This does not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or to injury to life or health.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution information; Czech consumers can turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI, coi.cz) for out-of-court resolution.

10. Changes

We may update these terms for future purchases. The terms in force when you bought your license apply to it.
